In early 2009, the first patients will be admitted to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's new home for Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh – a 1.5 million square foot pediatric campus under construction in Pittsburgh's Lawrenceville neighborhood. In order to share the design with staff, decision makers, donors, and the general public, Children's and UPMC have repeatedly turned to Etcetera Edutainment to produce high quality renderings and flythrough animations of the new facility.

Working closely with both Children's Hospital and their architect, Astorino, Etcetera has brought the many key features of the hospital and campus to life through fully animated 3D visualizations, allowing the user to experience the design long before construction is completed. Using construction documents and support materials provided by the architect, dozens of still images and over 12 minutes of animations were produced.

These renderings have assisted Children's Hospital in raising millions of dollars in donations. They have been used to help recruit new staff members, and to acclimate current staff to the new facility. They are posted on the Children's Hospital website, frequently with shot-by-shot comparisons to the building under construction. They have also elevated the discussion between client and architect, allowing involved parties to react to the design and make informed decisions and suggest changes that otherwise would be far costlier to implement once construction is complete.
